California laws to help you get cheap California auto insurance
When looking for cheap California auto insurance you must know your rights as a consumer. California law has strict rules insurers must adhere to when providing insurance service.
According to California law (Assembly Bill (AB) 2677, effective January 5th, 2005) California auto insurance companies are obligated to provide you with the cheapest auto insurance rate that you qualify for. The California law states:
“… every admitted insurer selling private passenger automobile insurance policies to provide consumers with a cost estimate of its lowest priced personal auto policy at the limits the consumer requests and for which the consumer is eligible. This mandate may be met by either (1) maintaining a toll-free telephone and/or (2) maintaining an Internet Web site where consumers can obtain a cost estimate or be referred to an insurance agent/broker who will provide the estimate.”
The California state law on auto insurance also requires that auto insurers provide their phone numbers, and or website to the California Department of Insurance.
